Resident Camp Staff Positions

Co- Resident Program Director (Minimum age – 21)

A part of the leadership team consisting of the Chief Operating Officer and Co-Resident Program Director to oversee all aspects of our summer camp program. Will be directly responsible for the daily programming and administration of camp. Must have at least two year’s camp experience and documented leadership and organizational skills. Need to be a mature and responsible role model. Must have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record. Position salary and length are negotiable. Prefer candidate available May – August.

Administrative/Supervisory Staff (Minimum age - 21)

Supervisory Staff support Cabin Counselors with running summer camp under the supervision of the Program Director. They must have at least one year's camp experience and documented leadership skills and abilities. They need to be mature and responsible role models. They need to have valid driver licenses with clean driving records. In addition to their specific duties, all supervisory staff will have other duties assigned to them by the Program Director.

Waterfront Director

Must have a current life guarding certificate, necessary experience, leadership abilities, certificates and qualifications to train/certify and supervise staff in swim instruction, life guarding, and small crafts operation. Would prefer instructor’s card to teach lifeguarding class. Responsible for evaluating campers swimming ability, scheduling appropriate classes and recreational swim times, supervise counseling staff teaching swim lessons, canoeing, sailing, kayaking, and windsurfing and operate a safe and fun waterfront. Team player in organizing evening all camp activities.

Land Activities Director

Responsible for training, scheduling and supporting staff assigned to diverse land program areas. Also develops camper schedules, and supervises daily operation of the land activities including camper attendance. The land activities include archery, arts and crafts, climbing tower, riflery, photography, landsports, newspaper, drama and raggers. Plan, organize, and direct evening all camp programs.

Develops and leads the SDP program for 15 - 17 year old campers who have been accepted into the program. Builds on the strong tradition of the program but does have program development responsibilities to assure the best possible training for our counseling staff's future.

Program Specialists (Minimum age 20 or 21 depending on position)

Craft Shop Director
Responsible for project selection with input into ordering of supplies. Responsible for the Arts & Crafts and Ceramics areas including: training staff, scheduling and supporting staff, creating specialty activities, monitoring supplies, and scheduling activity time. This person may live in a cabin if needed.

Asst. Waterfront Director - Admiral

Responsible for assisting the waterfront director in the day to day operation of the waterfront and upholding the safety procedures. Over see all boating activities. Coordinate and assist in life guarding for all free swims. Teach specialties according to skills. This position may live in a tent.

Counselor in Training (CIT) Counselors

Builds on the strong tradition of the program but does have program development responsibilities to assure the best possible training for our counseling staff's future.

Tripping/Transportation Director (Minimum age - 21)

Responsible for scheduling day trips. Ability to plan trips for campers with variety of skill levels, interest and age. Must have a current driver's license, a clean driving record, and 21 years of age. Team player in organizing evening all camp programming.

Counselor (Must be at least 18 and a High School Graduate)

Counselors are the backbone of the staff. Counselors live in a tent with ten campers. They are responsible for the leadership and supervision of the tent group. Counselors are also assigned to a specific program area based on having appropriate skill levels, aptitude and current certifications. In program areas, responsibilities include lesson plans, inventories, daily class instruction, issuing awards and certificates, maintaining the program area and complete program reports.

Health Intern (Minimum age - 21)

Phantom Lake YMCA Camp has one health lodge operating with 1 nurse to meet the needs of camp. Responsibilities include arrival health checks, organizing, monitoring, and administering all medications, sick calls, sick or injured camper care, organizing all doctor visits, and is a key player in our emergency health procedure. Families are welcome.

Kitchen Staff

Kitchen staff work with the Food Service Director to provide meals for up to 200+ people in our dining hall. Responsibilities include meal set-up, food preparation, dishwashing, and kitchen and dining hall cleaning.

Maintenance Staff

Work directly with the year-round Maintenance Department. Responsibilities include daily cleaning, grounds keeping, painting, and help with large work projects and minor repairs.
